What is Fairtrade?
Buying Fairtrade is a simple way to make a big difference to the lives of people and support the Fairtrade Foundation. Their mission is to promote fairer trading and empower farmers and workers who are disadvantaged or exploited, providing them with the tools to take control over their lives.
Fairtrade Fortnight (Monday 24 February – Sunday 8 March 2020) is about raising awareness to continue the mission to ensure that all farmers are paid fair wages, provided with decent working conditions and can earn a living income. If companies pay sustainable prices, then workers can earn a living income which means earning enough money to live a simple life with dignity.
Fairtrade challenges the injustices of trade, which exploits the poorest workers, protecting workers’ rights, ensuring that farmers and workers are paid a full price, establishing and building strong relationships with producer organisations.
Did you know?
There are over 1.66 million farmers and workers from 1411 producer organisations which participate in the Fairtrade scheme in 73 countries from all over the world (organisations that are Fairtrade certified).
What do we do at Naturya?
At Naturya, we source ingredients from all over the world, working closely with suppliers to build sustainable and long-lasting relationships. We believe in giving back to the communities we work with and paying fair, sustainable prices to our organic farmers for the love and care they show our foods. Being fair produces better food and a better world.
We source our Cacao powder from a Fairtrade supplier in Africa who selects the finest cocoa beans from traditional farming cooperatives. Our Organic Cacao powder has been certified by the Fairtrade Foundation. You can find the logo on our packaging. The Fairtrade Foundation independently check all the parts of our supply chain to ensure that we offer fair conditions and sustainable prices to farmers and workers involved in the production process.
We are also proud that Naturya is a member of SEDEX, the world’s leading membership organisation for businesses who trade ethically.
